The soul of the Caucasus
in paintings
made of felt
Original rugs and felt paintings by Sasa Bilyalovna Meshezova. Nature, home and tradition come together in the soft texture of natural wool.

Sasa Bilyalovna
Meshezova
For over 25 years, she has transformed natural sheep’s wool into paintings of the Caucasus, its people and its landscapes.
Born in the village of Psauchye-Dakhe in Karachay-Cherkessia, she grew up in a family that sewed, played music and wrote poetry. This was where her love of craft and creativity began.
Her path to wool painting led through weaving, garment production and teaching. Her work brings together the natural shades of sheep’s wool, family traditions and a love of her native Caucasus.

Beyond the Studio
Sasa’s paintings have been exhibited in Moscow, the North Caucasus and Abkhazia. Exhibitions, creative projects and workshops have been part of her artistic journey for many years.
